I spent yesterday onsite with my client.  I was able to see firsthand that the printing did in fact NOT work as expected on their test machine.  Remember that not only is the app supposed to print a hard-copy, it's also supposed to “print to a file - aka a .prn file“.

I have been told all along that the printer they're using is a Lexmark.  While the printer is a Lexmark, they are using an IBM driver.  At their test machine (Win 3.1), I saw they had 2 printers installed - a Generic Text printer and the Lexmark / IBM.  The Lexmark / IBM was set as the default.

I changed the default to the Generic Text printer, fired up the app and went throught the print process.  Guess what?  The .prn file was created.  So, it appears that the IBM driver they're using doesn't support printing to a file.

My fingers are crossed that they drop the request to create the .prn file so I can move on to other stuff.
