I'm in a funk and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because there are only a couple days til Christmas and there is NO snow. We're under an advisory that says we “could” get between 3 and 6 inches tonight, but I'm sure as hell not counting on it.
It's hard to believe that Christmas is almost here...and then the New Year. Sheesh...where did 2004 go? I've got some last minute shopping to do tomorrow. BTW, I'm getting sick and tired of hearing how schools and local government offices are trying to down-play Christmas. Screw the minority who may be offended by images of the baby Jesus or songs about Him. Now, I'm not all that religious, but I do know what Christmas is about. I do know that when I went to school, we had Christmas break. Not a freakin' “holiday“ break. We sang traditional Christmas songs and decorated our class rooms (for what it's worth, I graduated from high school in 1991). Hell, my wife and I both have the Christmas decorations we made in kindergarten (and yes, they are hanging on our tree)!
We've also got a small Christmas party to go to tomorrow evening. It should be fun, but there is potential for it to go downhill pretty quickly. One of my neighbors will be there. He's a teacher who wants to become an administrator sometime during his career. He's very liberal (hehe...what teacher isn't?). Anyway...I tend to start stuff with him...mostly about zero tolerance policies. He defends them and I call them BS whenever I can. :-) The party hosts told us to bring our own liquor if we wanted and I may just have to take something (or maybe this instead).
I've got lots of work to do. The project for my primary client appears to be never-ending and that dumbass of a contractor didn't help us any. I'd still like to “out“ that loser.
I will say that I feel a lot more organized now that I purchased MindManager. I've pretty much mapped my entire life and have come up with some good procedures for making sure things stay up-to-date.
I've got a lot I want to blog about, I just haven't found the time to do it.
After one of my servers went down a couple months ago (bad network card), I finally got it back up and running this week. It's great because that system hosted my internal Sharepoint site. I put the new NIC in the box, rebooted, installed drivers, etc. and it didn't work. WTF? For some reason, the card wasn't being assigned an address. All my other systems work fine using DHCP. After messing with it for a good 2 hours, I finally manually assigned an address to get it working.
