As many of you know, my primary contract is coming to an end this month.  Because of this, I did some soul searching and decided that it's time to re-join the real world.  While I've enjoyed being an independent consultant/contractor for the last 3+ years, I'm ready for something new.

Thanks to a tip from a friend, I found what I hope will be a long-term, internal software development position that's only a few minutes from home.  I interviewed last Friday (the 21st) and an offer was made this past Tuesday (Feb 1st).

I am happy with the offer and I'm looking forward to the benefits of being a W2 employee again.  It's been so long since I've had “paid time off” that I'm not sure what I'll do with all the time they're giving me.  It'll also be nice to have someone else pay for health insurance!

I will be doing what I've been doing since the start: developing solutions using Microsoft tools and technologies.  I'm looking forward to learning and being with a team again.  I don't actually start until Feb 21st, but in the interim, I'll be finishing up some tasks for a client.

My plan is to continue to take on small projects as they come up, but we'll see how that goes. :-)

I may end up moving my blog to another server, but I'm not sure yet.
