Our daughter turned 4 today.  It's hard to believe that 4 years and 1 day ago, it was just the twoof us. :-)

Our tradition (my parents did it with my sister and I) has always been that the person celebrating their birthday gets to pick what they want for dinner.  Well, my daughter decided that she wanted to go out for pizza.  One thing that really bugs me about places that claim to be family friendly is the fact that almost none of them have “bendy” straws!  Why does this irritate me?  Because my kids are old enough to drink from cups, but still young enough that they want to tip their cups when they drink.  If they had bendy straws, they could leave the cup on the table and still be able to drink from it!

Anyway, she's had a good birthday so far.  Her little brother is a bit irritated that he didn't score any loot, but those are the breaks. :-)  She scored a lot of cool stuff from her grandparents.  We bought her a new “Princess” bike which she absolutely loves.  Her actual party is on Sunday and it's a “girls only” affair.  No boys allowed!
