So, today we were told that we could only have 5 personal items on our desks. Oh, and our headphones have to be approved by our manager....and the office has to be “library” quiet. Of course, that doesn't stop the constant overhead pages I hear all day.
Last month it was all about the dress code - the management team had a fashion show to show us what NOT to wear. The really stupid thing about that fashion show is that there are only a few people (out of 170) that even come close to violating the code. So, instead of taking those people aside, they had to waste 30 minutes of our time with a fashion show.
It's amazing how much energy some of these people burn worrying about stuff that really doesn't matter. It isn't like we have customers coming in (we're not that kind of company) for visits. How about we focus on getting things done and less on what people have on their desks.
What's next? Ties? Suits? Chips implanted somewhere on our bodies? ;-)
Peter Gibbons: You see Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.
Bob Porter: Don't... don't care?
Peter Gibbons: It's a problem of motivation, all right? Now if I work my ass off and Initech ships a few extra units, I don't see another dime, so where's the motivation? And here's another thing, I have eight different bosses right now.
