My good friend Wil is blogging. :-)

Gunny Wade was the best man at my wedding...cept' he was just an E5 then.  He's prepping for a tour in Iraq and he's offering some great insight into what it's like to a) be a Marine, and b) prepare for war.

If you read his biography, this section pretty much describes the both of us during our last year of high school (except I was never held back in school  ;-p):
All I wanted was to skip over school and go to boot but in fact, I had to endure more school to reach my goal. I began summer school and night school classes. I took sophomore classes that I had neglected or failed as a senior just to satisfy the requirements. I worked my ass off that last year.

Nothing sucked more than summer school and night school classes. :-\  We did it though.  We cranked through and graduated.  Unfortunately while Wil left for boot camp, my dreams of joining the Army were shattered when I went to MEPS for my physical (on Aug 2, 1990 - the day Iraq invaded Kuwait) and was given a big, fat NO-GO due to health reasons.

Anyway...give his blog a read if you have some time.
